In 1982, David traveled to the United States, where he spent seven years learning the nuances of the jewelry trade under the mentorship of a seasoned jewelry dealer. A lesson that deeply resonated with him was to design every piece of jewelry with the same care and love as if it were for his wife—an idea that remains at the heart of Setaré’s philosophy.

In 1989, David ventured to Asia, drawn to its booming market, and immersed himself in business across Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, and China. He cultivated long-lasting relationships, particularly in Japan, where he mastered the importance of quality and the value of selling jewelry with integrity. Over the next seven years, he focused on wholesaling loose diamonds and gemstones, gaining invaluable expertise in the intricacies of the global jewelry industry.

Mastering Jewelry In Asia

Inspired by his family’s legacy, David set out to build something of his own. In 1997, he met his wife, a gifted jewelry designer, and together they established an artisanal factory in Hong Kong, adhering to the highest European standards of craftsmanship. That same year, Setaré was born, focusing on business-to-business manufacturing for clients in Japan, Indonesia, Taiwan, and the United States.
